The Young Adults at Idlewild are an active group! Throughout the year we have many opportunities for fellowship, including our an annual Kick-Off Party, Christmas party, and regular social events. We also provide several educational opportunities, including book studies, Bible studies, and a weekly Theology on Tap gathering during the summer.
Elizabeth also oversees UKirk Memphis, a Presbyterian campus ministry for students at Rhodes College and the University of Memphis. College students gather weekly for a meal and conversation, attend the Montreat College Conference in January, and participate in retreats and service opportunities throughout the year.
Everyone is encouraged to serve God and our community. Opportunities include More Than A Meal on Thursday evenings, the Adopt-A-School tutor and reading programs at Idlewild Elementary School, the Midtown legal clinic, and Room in the Inn. We also encourage Young Adults to get involved with Idlewild’s MICAH (the Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope) group. MICAH is a coalition of community and faith-based organizations joining together to give a more powerful voice for issues of justice in Memphis.
Young Adults make up nearly a third of the membership at Idlewild Presbyterian Church. From worship to study, contemplating scripture to serving our community, there’s a lot here to draw you closer to God!
The weekly e-newsletter can help keep you up-to-date on all the young adult events and studies. Sign up online to receive it.
