November – 30 Days of Thankful

November brings a month of introspection as we remind ourselves of gratitude – the big and the little. Join us in daily prayer prompts on Facebook, Instagram, or print in a journey of thankfulness.

Looking Inward, Moving Forward: An Anti-Racism Journey

This study begins with the question, “How is my racial identity shaped and reshaped by the history I have learned and the circumstances I have encountered in my life?” From there it moves into conversation with our racial identity, and finally, how we are called to act as Christians shaped by repentance and the freedom to love our neighbors as ourselves. What does that look like at Idlewild?

Classes will be led by experts in the areas of public health, education, criminal justice, and housing, as well as members of the congregation. See the full semester’s plan.

Sacred Space

Beginning August 10, to provide a sacred space for our congregation, the sanctuary is open on a limited schedule. Register for a 30 minute session in the sanctuary. COVID protocol must be followed. Contact Marsha Enlow with questions.

A Way to Remember Steve Montgomery

The congregation began a project this week as a way to remember the Reverend Dr. Steve Montgomery. Read more here. You are invited to make your own flags for your home and hang them this week as we grieve together.

A Service of Witness to the Resurrection

The Reverend Dr. Henry Blaine Strock, Jr. served Idlewild as Senior Pastor for 16 years and, at his death, served as Pastor Emeritus. A service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held on Sunday, June 28 at 2 p.m. Read more about the plans for the service. To attend, please pre-register here or email Marsha Enlow, Pastoral Assistant.

The Memorial Service bulletin and family reflection can be found here

17:50 Prayers

In June, we invite you to pray daily at 17:50 (5:50 p.m.). The prayer prompts for June were written by Jessica Joshi. Jessica serves as an elder on the Session and is a senior at St. Mary’s School. The prompts are available online and will be posted on social media daily.
