COVID-19 Updates

During this time of social distancing, we are taking every precaution to protect our church family and friends. If we make any changes to these schedules, we will communicate by email and Facebook.

  • Sunday worship service is live at 11:00. Join us on Livestream and on the radio on 96.1 FM. Livestream apps are available for mobile devices and Roku. Services are also archived on Livestream.
  • The campus is closed. All groups, meetings, and events are canceled. Staff members are working remotely as much as possible. If you have a pastoral need, please call 901-726-4681 and leave a message in the general mailbox, which is checked regularly.
  • More Than A Meal on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. is serving to-go meals only.

Outreach Opportunities

  • Help sew or cut fabric for masks! The Presbyterian Women and an intrepid group of Idlewild members are working together to provide masks for local healthcare workers. You can find the pattern online. Kits and finished masks can be picked up/dropped off on the front porch of 5188 S Angela Rd.
  • Food Bank Distribution We are continuing with Food Bank distribution on Wednesday mornings. Every precaution for safety is taken to minimize exposure to guests and other volunteers: guests will not leave their vehicles, gloves will be worn, volunteers will work at least six feet apart, and no one will enter the church building. If you are under 60 years old, have no underlying health concerns, and feel called to serve in this way, please sign up online.
  • More Than A Meal continues in a to-go only fashion. For the next several weeks, MTAM will be catered by Bounty on Broad. Guests are given meals to-go and the opportunity to share prayer concerns. Volunteer capacity is being limited for everyone’s safety. Sign up online.
  • The Compassion Collection is low right now, and we expect an influx of calls for assistance. Because MLGW has made the decision to discontinue cut-offs in this pandemic season, we will not assist with MLGW bills at this time, but we will assist with housing needs where we’re able. Donate online.
  • Shady Grove Presbyterian will be collecting protein bars and protein shakes (high protein items that don’t require opening utensils or kitchens) for those experiencing homelessness. They will be sanitized and distributed to MTAM guests and possibly by other organizations that have interface with those experiencing homelessness. Drop-off at Shady Grove (5530 Shady Grove Rd) in the bins outside the doors.
