Sports Teams and Camps
Idlewild teams are a part of the Memphis Christian Recreation Association (MCRA) or East Shelby Church Recreation Association (ESCRA). Visit the Registrations page to register online.
For the safety of all parties involved, all Idlewild volunteer coaches complete a background check prior to each season. If you wish to coach a team your child is on, please note in the COMMENT SECTION of your child's registration that you are willing to coach.
Children's Soccer: Registration Open January 9th!
Idlewild has soccer teams for boys and girls ages 4-12. Soccer is a growing sport with many youths playing in the Mid-South. Idlewild focuses on good sportsmanship and teamwork, while experiencing the love of Christ through play. Soccer is offered both in the spring and in the fall. Costs for soccer are $85 for youth; $55 for mini strikers (kindergarten).

Baseball Teams: Registration opens January 17th!
We will be starting baseball sign ups on January 17th, 2017! The cost is $55 per Tball player and $85 for Coach Pitch and Kid Pitch. We will only be accepting 15 players per team, so sign up fast!
Basketball Teams for Boys and Girls
REGISTER FOR THE 2016-17 SEASON
Basketball is offered for boys and girls age five and older. Registration is in September. Cost is $55 for mini-jammers (kindergarten); $85 for youth. Practices will begin in November. The Mini-Jammer league for kindergarteners is a beginner league, hosted at Idlewild, with a focus on teamwork, fundamentals of the game, and having fun while playing. Mini-Jammers play and practice on Saturday mornings in January and February. For first grade and older, teams practice one day a week and play on Saturdays at designated locations starting in December.
RBI - Reviving Baseball in Inner-Cities
Mondays-Thursdays | 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Location: Jesse Turner Field (1310 S Bellevue Blvd, Memphis TN 38106)
For Girls & Boys ages 6 - 16
RBI is a FREE summer baseball program sponsored by the Memphis Redbirds. It is for boys and girls ages 6 to 16. Idlewild hosts the biggest site in the city. Camp is at Jesse Turner Field. (There will be no transportation from/to the church.)
Participants have practice & games from 9:00 to noon, Monday-Thursday. There is a free lunch every day. RBI is FREE, but spots are limited. Call 725-4165 for more details. Click to register online.
Everyone is welcome to come by and cheer on the RBI players. Volunteers are sometimes needed to bring snacks to the field for participants to enjoy. Call 726-4185 for more info.

NaCoMe Camp & Conference Center (click for directions)
Fall NaCoMe All-Church Camp is October 7-9, 2016. Young, old, singles, families—anyone who enjoys the outdoors, fellowship, music and fun is invited to come to the spring retreat. NaCoMe is a Presbyterian camp in the woods, just south of Nashville. Activities include worship, horseshoes, scavenger hunts, dancing, crafts and naps. There are comfortable cabins with front porches just made for rocking. It’s a fun, welcoming retreat — a wonderful get-to-know-each-other weekend for new members, longtime members and friends. The Pottery Studio
The pottery studio is open each Wednesday
6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
No cost (donations appreciated)
Beginners, intermediates, experts are all welcome to the pottery studio, located downstairs in the Jones Building. There are two electric wheels, slab roller, and a new kiln to enjoy. Studio hours: Wednesday night 6:00-8:00. No cost, but donations are greatly appreciated and are used to supply glazes, tools, and clay. Please call 725-4165 for more details.
Will Presley is teaching guitar lessons here at Idlewild. There will be one on one lessons as well as group. Cost is $15 for a 30 minutes session one on one and $30 for an hour. Please contact the recreation office for more details or Will to sign up at email@example.com.
Gymnastics Lessons and Cheerleading
Gymnastics classes are available for Kindergarten through 6th grade and cheerleading classes are available for 1st-6th grade. Contact Kathy at 901-452-6588 for more information or to register.
Community dance groups meet at Idlewild Church regularly. All dance groups are free, and open to singles and couples, young and young at heart.
Meets 2nd, 4th and 5th Fridays of each month, 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the T.K. Young Room.
Seasonal Church Events
Fat Tuesday Pancake Supper
We have a pancake supper each year on Fat Tuesday. Come and enjoy good food and fun. cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children and will begin at 5:30. Call the recreation office for more details at 725-4165.

All-Church Potluck Lunches
Potlucks are held at least twice a year. It's a great time to visit for worship, then join us for lunch with fried chicken, rolls and drinks provided. If you can't bring a dish, please come anyway. Call the recreation office for more info.
