Sunday School Information 

Summer Sunday School schedules
 

Summer Classes 

Summer Sunday school is from May 26 to August 11. Classes are at 9:40 a.m. See the Christian Formation summer brochure for details about classes, music, recreation and special events.

Adult Summer Speaker Series: Meet in the T.K. Young Room. See all speakers and topics for each week.  

Children's classes: PK–1st grade (Room 128) and 2nd–5th grade (Room 121). Two-year-olds will not meet. Remember, children remain in their current grade until Rally Day.

Youth classes meet in the new youth area in the Jones Building, 3rd floor east wing.

The Summer Choir meets Sunday mornings at 10:00 to prepare for that day's 11:00 service. Contact Barry Oliver.

 

July 19, Aug 16 - Parents Night Out

Parents Night Out events are being offered this summer by the Early Enrichment Center. Each night will have a fun theme and will include dinner. Ages: 5 to 12: Times: 6:00-9:00 p.m. Space is limited. Cost is $25 each for 2 children; a 3rd child in a family is $10. Dates: June 7, onsite escape room; June 21, art expressions; July 19, slime time; and Aug 16, Olympics. July 21 – Rabbi Micah Greenstein, guest speaker & preacher

Rabbi Micah Greenstein will be our guest preacher next Sunday as we continue the Psalm 23 sermon series. He will also be speaking on the Emotional Truth in the Psalms for the Summer Speaker Series, at 9:40 in the T.K. Young Room. See more information here

 

July 21 – Young Adults Lunch

Young adults meet for lunch at Farmburger in Crosstown Concourse Sunday, July 21, right after the 11:00 service. Please RSVP in Realm so we have a headcount.

July 25 - Idlewild Book Club 

Idlewild Book Club meets the 4th Thursday of the month. On July 25 at 2:00, the group will be in Room 324 (Jones Building). All are invited to join the discussion of The Pioneers by David McCullough.

 

 July 25 - Theology on Tap

Young Adults have Theology on Tap at 7:00 Thursday, July 25 at Tess & Jon Huwe’s home. Please check your email for location and more information about young adult activities. For info contact Elizabeth H. Doolin.

July 26 - Soccer registration ends

Fall soccer registration July 26 for teams that still have openings. Details and registration links are at www.idlewildchurch.org/registrations.

 

 August 5 – Pickleball returns!

Pickleball is returning August 5. Regular times will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Donation of $2 per person per session is asked. Please contact Jacob Pierce for more information.

 

August 10 - Guided labyrinth

Guided labyrinth exercises will be held monthly this summer: 9:00–10:00 a.m. Saturdays -- June 8, July 13 and August 10. They are led by Anne Bradley Thomas at Rhodes College. Park on University Street and walk through the Phillips Lane school entrance. The Adrienne McMillan Burns Memorial Labyrinth is located southwest of the Fisher Garden near the school entrance. 

 

August 18 - Rally Day

The new year kicks off Sunday, August 18! At 9:40, everyone gathers in the sanctuary and children sit together with their age groups. Then, young people go to their classrooms to meet their teachers. The Ministry Fair will be in Montgomery Hall, where adults young and old can learn about study, service, and fellowship opportunities. Finally, everyone returns to the sanctuary to worship together as a family of faith. 

Sept 4 - Parenting classes begin (PEP)

Parenting classes are being offered by the Parenting Enrichment Place Wednesdays, 6:00-7:30 p.m., beginning September 4. This six week course is ideal for parents with toddlers through late elementary age. Cost: $60/person or $100/couple. Must register by August 30. Contact Kristi L.
