Dear Parent or Guardian,
We look forward to
another season of Idlewild sports and are excited to have you and your player
join us. We strive for the best and hope that you will have a wonderful
experience with us. There are many contributors that make a successful season
including strong coaches, good sportsmanship, players, organized
administration, and you.
Parents
play a special role in our program; without you there would be no recreation,
and we are appreciative of what you do! I would like for you to consider a
couple of things before making the commitment to an Idlewild team:
1. To be a strong team all the players and
parents need to do their best to be present at practices and games. Please
make sure that you and your player are willing to make this pledge to the team.
While we understand that schedules vary week to week, we ask that you
communicate with the team parent or coach any time your player must miss
practice or a game. In the past, teams have struggled when players have not
shown up for practices and/ or games. When players don’t show up, it is unfair
to the other parents, players, and coaches who are present. We cannot maintain
a strong program without the commitment and consideration of all families! If
you are unable to make a commitment of a twice a week for either games or
practices, please reconsider registering your child in this particular program.
We reserve the right to remove from a team any player who has not been
present during the first two weeks of practices or games unless it was
discussed beforehand, so that a player on the waiting list can have an
opportunity to play. There will be no refund if we must remove players from
the team for unexcused absences.
2. A good coach is so important to a
team; he/she needs to be able to focus on teaching, praising, and molding our children
for the future. Of course, though, no coach can meet all the needs for a strong
team, so I would like for you to think about ways which you can help with the
team:
Team parent- makes phone calls for the coach and keeps up with
rain outs and cancellations and communicates these to the other parents or
guardians
Snacks- each game a different parent can bring snacks for the
kids
Volunteer- during practice or in a game on the field you can
assist the coach, if needed
These are just some of the ways to get
involved with your team.
Recreation and sports provide a great opportunity for your child
to learn, grow, get exercise, and meet new friends. Our staff takes pride in
what we do and feel it is an accomplishment when we see our players
succeed. We are excited that you have chosen to play with Idlewild, and
if there is anything that you need from us to make your season a great one,
please do not hesitate to call or email me.
Many blessings,
Ashley LaRue
